BORIKEN Performing Group

The BORIKEN Performing Group is a dynamic ensemble of musicians, singers, and dancers dedicated to bringing the vibrant traditions of Bomba and Plena music from Puerto Rico to life. As a collaborative group, we combine our talents to perform and celebrate these deeply rooted musical styles, which are integral to our Afro-Puerto Rican’s cultural heritage.

Bomba and Plena, with their origins in Puerto Rico’s African heritage, represent some of the island’s oldest and most significant musical traditions. Our group honors the powerful role of women and men in Bomba, showcasing their strength and resilience through captivating performances. By sharing these traditional rhythms and dances, we not only pay tribute to the courage of those who came before us but also ensure that the powerful stories and cultural expressions of Bomba and Plena continue to resonate today.

The group does artistic presentations at public events, festivals, libraries, schools, and cultural activities.
