MEET OUR BOARD

Marisol Chiclana-Ayala, MPA, leads the Community Engagement Systems Transformation team at the MDH – Center for Health Equity and is the co-director of the COVID-19 – Cultural, Faith and Disability Communities Branch. She is also an adjunct professor at St. Catherine University in St Paul. In addition, Marisol is a 2006 Archibald Granville Bush Leadership Fellow.

A native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Marisol is a proud Afro-Boricua/Afro-Latina, honoring her culture and traditions in Minnesota through her drumming, Bomba singing and her work as the board chair and director of the BORIKEN CULTURAL CENTER MN, the only Afro-Boricua non-profit organization in the Midway region.

Kenneth Ortiz Scott, Sr. Business Process Improvement Analyst at Medtronic Project Management Office. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Operations and Supply Chain Management. Certified as a Lean Black Belt Professional (LBB) and Certified Associate Project Manager (CAPM). Dedicated to change management processes, individual and team development, systems applications, and streamlining to improve performance. He also serves in Medtronic’s Diversity Networks and Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) as a Partnership Chair leader in Hispanic Latino Network (HLN) and as a Leader Liaison in Medtronic Young Professionals (MYP).

A native of Toa Baja (Levittown) Puerto Rico, Kenneth loves working at BORIKEN CULTURAL CENTER since 2021.

Roberto Clemente, the first Latin American superstar in Major League Baseball, said “If you have a chance to accomplish something that will make things better for people coming behind you, and you don’t do that, you are wasting your time on this earth.” The work he can accomplish provides pathways for others, recognition of Puerto Rican culture, traditions, and awareness to the Minnesota community.

Omayra Chilana – Ayala, works at the Guadalupe Alternative Programs (The Change Inc) in St. Paul. She is a community leader and local artist from Puerto Rico. She is a Cantaora (Singer) of traditional Bomba music. Omayra has been part of the Boriken Cultural Center Performing group since 2010 and board member since 2021.

Yari Serrano, works as an Elementary School Teacher at Robbinsdale Area Schools. She has a BA in Communications and is a Master Gardener from RCMG. Community Leader and Coordinator of Multicultural Events. Yari is a Graphic Designer and Owner of Arcee’s Graphics. Board member since 2021. From Levittown, Toa Baja, Puerto Rico.
